Clark County Release Record Retention
Missouri's statewide sheriff retention schedule fills a gap left by the web pages. Schedule SHF 013 treats inmate and detainee files as records that include booking and intake, reason for confinement, admission and release dates, property and cash receipts, and transfer data. It requires retention for at least five years after release. Audit, litigation, or another controlling rule can extend that period.
This does not mean a JailTracker entry or booking image must stay online for five years. It means the underlying sheriff file should remain available under the schedule, subject to public-access law and any lawful closure. For older or uncertain events, submit a narrow Chapter 610 request. Identify the person, approximate booking range, and booking or case number. Missouri section 610.023 requires action on a public-record request as soon as possible and no later than the end of the third business day after receipt. If more time is reasonably required, the custodian should give a detailed reason and the earliest production time.
